Forecast for Today - 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST:

A few clouds in the morning and then sunny for the SW ranges. Mild temperatures in the afternoon with light winds.

Increasing clouds over the NW ranges. A chance of flurries over northern sections in the afternoon. Freezing level rising from near 500 metres to near 1000 metres.

Mainly cloudy skies with a chance of flurries for the Cariboos in the morning. Becoming mainly sunny for all the central and southern interior ranges by the afternoon.

Mainly sunny for the northern Rockies today. Strong westerly winds by the afternoon.

Today, a Pacific frontal system is moving through the Klondike area. Skies will be overcast with heavy snow and blowing snow. Snow accumulation up to 10 cm. Strong south winds.

Forecast for Tonight - 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. PST:

Increasing clouds for the SW ranges tonight.

Snow beginning for the NW ranges, amounts ranging between 5 to 10 centimetres. FL between 500 to 800 metres. Winds becoming extreme SW winds by morning. 

Remaining dry for the central and southern interior ranges overnight. 

Chance of flurries for the North Rockies by the morning. FL between 500 to 800 metres. Strong westerly winds beginning by morning. 

The snow and wind tapers off in the evening as we are expecting a slight break between systems. Snow accumulation 2 to 4 cm. Moderate south winds.

Forecast for Friday - 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST:

Mainly cloudy for the SW ranges on Friday. Snow beginning for northern sections by late in the afternoon. Strong to extreme SW winds by the afternoon. Freezing levels between 1000 to 1200 metres. 

Snow today for the NW ranges, most areas will see 5 to 10 centimetres. Portions of the Skeena range could see 15 to 20 centimetres. By the afternoon freezing levels will rise to between 1000 to 1200 metres. Strong to extreme SW ridgetop.

Increasing clouds for the Cariboos today with a chance of flurries for the north Cariboos by the afternoon. Freezing level rising to near 1500 metres by the afternoon. Remaining dry today for the remaining southern BC interior mountains. Mild temperatures by the afternoon.

A few flurries for the North Rockies today. Strong SW winds. Freezing levels rising to between 1000 to 1300 metres by the afternoon.

A second frontal system arrives over the Klondike area bringing 10 to 20 cm snow accumulation. Moderate east winds becoming moderate to strong south winds. 

Overnight Friday and through the weekend, precipitation will continue to be pumped into the BC coast. 

The SW ranges will likely see very high accumulations of precipitation. For now, much of the moisture is expected to fall as snow, some mixing and changeover possible especially overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning with rising freezing levels. Also, there will be strong to extreme SW winds. 

Significant accumulations also expected for portions of the NW ranges. 

By Saturday, snow will push into the interior mountains and extend from the north Rockies into the Cariboos. Rising freezing levels and significant precipitation for the Cariboos through the weekend.

By Sunday night the system will finally push out of the coast and bring snow to the southern BC interior ranges overnight and into Monday morning. 

For this weekend, expect a break with just a mix of sun and cloud and chance of flurries in the forecast. Light south winds.

High Pressure and an Approaching Low

Mainly dry conditions across the province today. 

Overnight tonight and into Friday a substantial low pressure system begins to impact the NW ranges. 

By Friday evening precipitation begins to push into the SW ranges. 

Through Saturday moisture continues to pump into the province, especially the SW ranges.
